Real: FW: Bush Lemons bushwalk - Sat, 19 Feb

Hi Lemons,

Our next walk is on Saturday week, 19 February.  It is different from the scheduled one because the track to Lindemans Pass is closed due to a landslide.  Therefore we will be tackling a walk in the Wild Dogs Mountains - Ironpot Mountain to Coxs River and Breakfast Creek.  This is a hard full day walk of about 15km in this gorgeous wilderness area.

We will be carpooling out to Dunphys Campground at the end of the Megalong Valley where the walk begins and ends.  We will ascend up Ironpot Ridge and then descend off the end of Ironpot Mountain down to the Coxs River.  This section of track if fairly indistinct and its a long descent where a trekking pole or stick is handy.  We arrive at the gorgeous river for lunch and a dip, and then walk along iconic Breakfast Creek and then onto Carlon Creek and the long ascent back up to Dunphy's Campground yet again.  This walk has amazing views into the wilderness, lots of gorgeous bush, wildlife and a lovely river and creeks where we can have dips.  There will be a lot of shallow creek crossings on the walk back from Coxs River, and the walk itself will take 7-8 hours.  Previously this walk has had stinging nettles near the end, so long pants or zip off pants are advisable.  This is a favourite walk of mine because of the wilderness aspect, the challenge of the walk, and the particular beauty of this area, so I hope that you'll be able to join us.

Book: With me via email or text by Thursday, 17 February.  Please ensure you leave your contact phone numbers.

Meet:  At 8am at the Blackheath railway station carpark.  To get here, turn left over the railway line at the second set of lights in Blackheath, and turn immediately right into Station Street and the small carpark is a very short distance up here on the right, just past the Mitre 10 Hardware.  We will carpool the 20 mins or so from here to the start of the walk.

Bring:  As this is a long walk please bring plenty of walk (minimum of 3 litres), lunch, snacks, raincoat, sturdy boots/shoes, trekking pole if you wish, long pants or zip off pants for any nettles, hat, camera, warm top etc etc.

Cheers
Jocelyn
